Tale of Two Cities Essay!
When Charles Dickens decided to
write A Tale of Two Cities, the book that he wrote, he felt like
inserting a lot of mirror, or double, images. He did this because they
showed that if you feel that someone is less than you they are probably
the same or at least have the potential to be the same. Charles Dickens
did this in a whole bunch of characters and some events too. Like
Carton and Darnay, Lucie and Madam Defarge(coughfridge - she was like
wicked fat) and England and France, which were places. I don't really
like Charles Dickens.
Carton and Darnay were really different from each other, except for physically they looked sort of the same. Carton was a drunk and he was a failure. He loves Lucie but she didn't really like him back. Darnay, though, was a successful guy. He was rich and had respect and he ended up marrying Lucie. The way that Carton & Darnay are mirror, or double, images is that they seem opposite but Carton ends up sacrificing himself for Darnay because it shows that Carton is a hero too and that he has the potential to be as good as Darnay. Lucie and Madam D are basically opposites. They mirror each other because everyone loves Lucie and Lucie loves everyone and everyone hates Madam D and Madmam D hates everyone. Lucie is really beautiful, and the reason that Madam D. is such a hateful person is because she is jealous that everybody is in love with Lucie and not her. I'm jealous of Lucie too. Charles Dickens was a sick man. Next was England and France. England was one country which was sort of east of France and France was sort of west of England and a bit to the south. Or maybe that was Italy, idk. They mirror each other because even though France sees the pain that revolution is causing England they still want to have a revolution too. Another message Chuck is trying to say is that you shouldn't do something just because everyone else is doing it because it makes you a follower and you should be a leader instead. Besides that it has to do with the fact that France was too selfish to look at themselves and look at England. So they mirror each other. Also there is when the wine is spilled and when the rich man is being fed chocolate by his four servants. This also shows that there is good and bad in everything. The peasants, who are really the good guys, are scavenging for wine, which is bad. The royalty, the bad and evil guys, are eating chocolate, which is very good. I don't really like Charles Dickens. Like Carton and Darnay, Lucie and Madam Defarge(coughfridge - she was like wicked fat) and England and France, which were places.
